WOW! I cannot believe its been this long since I have posted anything! Mea Culpa my lazy ass.
Really now, things have been happening in my life. The first is the major change in my life is in the form a 5 foot tall work of God. Yep, this self avowed bachelor has fallen hard. She fills my mind all the time, puts a smile on my face and drives me crazy!
Next up, I had all I could take of working at Home Depot other than that's where I met Sweet Thang. Really the pay has not kept up with the rising cost of groceries, gasoline, utilities or healthcare. I'm tired of figuring out what to sell every month to make ends meet. I have been treating looking for a job like a job and it finally paid off. I got a very good job with excellent pay (north of 20 buck an hour) AND I get to buy their product once a month! So...... This coming Monday I get a day of orientation and start work the next day. This place has 12 hour shifts and I do not yet know what my schedule will be. I shocked a manager at Home Depot when I told her I was getting a 32 thousand dollar raise! I will be working a shift I don't like, overnights, but hey, the pay is good, the benefits are excellent and I get work on machines making my favorite thing....ammo!
Back to Home Depot....I was invited to a store town hall. I went prepared.
When the Store Manager got around to talking about the cost of doing business, I brought up the billions they allow, nationwide, to walk, unpaid for, out the front door. Then asked if HD could tolerate that loss why could they not pay their employees a decent wage. I mean home owners and pro's come to us for information, knowledge and expertise. And we don't make as much as their helpers do. When he then went to lecture me on how to manage my budget, ( after telling me he could not make it on the immense wage he makes) that I needed to balance my wants and needs! I stood up and told him I did not need anyone like him lecturing me, who has managed budgets up to 10 million dollars and then I walked out of the town hall. AND I did not get fired! Two days later I got the offer (after some tests) from my new employer. I started using up my person time and on the last day I took off, went in and handed in my notice, effective immediately.
Recovery... I had my pseudo knee replacement surgery (pseudo as they dont really replace the knee joint now), and I have had many issues with this damn thing. A year and 5 months later it just starting to feel like it's my knee. Starting to. It still clicks a bit, still has some residual pain, yeah I know it's never going to stop hurting, I still get swelling and occasionally fluid on that knee. I took up walking on a local trail but that aggravated the "new" knee so that had to end. I'll never be able run again or kneel on the surgical knee. Still, it's better than what I had by a large margin. AND I do not take any pain pills any more. I was taking large amounts of prescription pain pills, then the government reduced the maximum dosage so ended up using more just to get by.
New type knee surgery only installs new bearing surfaces in the same old worn out joint. So, you are left with arthritic bone, now with screws in it. The old style replacement actually replaced the entire joint. They basically cut your leg off, installed and upper and lower joint and put it all back together, now they use a jig and trim up the chondriles and then glue and screw some plates on them and then put a hockey puck with a stem on it between the plates to act as cartilage
With the new job, I will be able to buy guns again, buy ammo again, resume prepping, AND get out of this crappy neighborhood!
Oh, did I mention there's a woman in my life?
I'll be back regularly, I promise.
Caution: Sharp words, ideas and commentary on life politics, family and overall preparedness

Knuckle Who? Standing Where?
I've been away awhile with one thing or another, work, 'shinin' , being broke and miserable, you know that kinda stuff. So, today I was browsing through my bloglist and find the once again Stephen over at Standing Outside Looking In is MIA again and Ken over at Knuckdraggin' My Life Away site does not come up. What gives? Is Stephen having problems with his account again? And about Ken, who the fuck knows, he might have shot someone. Seriously, anyone know what's up? These are two of my favorite bloggers and would like to get the lowdown.
With the sudden onset of winter that will limit or curtail my, uh, outdoor activities, I'll be posting some more gun article, some more pics of those bitches we cannot live without, some anti- .gov shit, anti-.tax shit and some other shit. Oh yeah, some pics of silencers, sawed-offs, SBR's and other such goodies. And I'm thinking of doing a series on bug out vehicle and such. Studying up on it now!

New Project
As a part of new project I ordered a 10.5 inch .45 ACP barrel. It is chambered and in the white. After a few sketches and thoughts I'm leaning towards an M3 style build. Not a copy but a ground up pistol made in the vein of that old venerable gun. Home made with hand made and of the shelf parts. This will take a lot of thought and a lot of hand work. I anticipate using Springfield Armory XD .45 mags. Compact and holding 13 rounds and readily available and made of stainless steel. I'll probably use a AR grip modified of course and maybe even an AR trigger group. Dunno. If I can get the visions in my head converted into steel it will be way fucking cool. Any way I look at it will be a small mountain of work just to make a crap one. And I don't like crap. More to come.

A Keeper
My son is in the Navy. One of the benefits his squadron receives is custom made firearms with all their squadron makings on it. They get these guns at a discounted price which is very nice. SIG usually added in range training and maintenance instruction.
The last one was a SIG 1911 in black with laser etching of the unit logo and motto. It's a very nice pistol and even nicer, he gave it to me.
The latest one is a beauty. A Kimber 1911 in stainless with wood grips, Novak style carry sights lowered and flared ejection port, beaver tail grip safety and the laser engraving. Take look for yourself.

A Great Wind
Last night I went down the street to see my mother and step-father. When he and I get together you cannot get away without talking and discussing politics, knives, guns and the Civil War. So while some inane TV show was playing, he and I were talking about knives and this came into my head. I grabbed my new Varsity el cheapo fountain pen and an envelope and jotted this down. I kinda like it, maybe it'll lead to longer prose.
" A great wind blew across the land and it carried the voice of anger and dissent.
This wind kindled the fires of rebellion and that in turn became the conflagration of revolution.
Men and women across this land dropped their books and tools and implements of peace. Their empty hands were soon filled with the arms of freedom."
It's amazing the way the human mind wanders and can do so many things at the same time. And what brought those words to my fingertips? My anger? My frustration? Or my desire?
We have used these in a failed attempt at freedom
And it seems podiums don't work for shit.
So maybe its time for these.....
Hone your skill, prepare your hides, be ready to take in a sudden short term boarder, just be ready.

Pure Ignorance From Those In Power
"Feinstein said the firearms of law-abiding Americans need to be placed under “appropriate authority."
Every time a quote like this has been made and acted upon a genocide has occurred. In places like Nazi Germany, Communist China, Communist Russia, Uganda and many other nations.
Are our leaders actually ignorant enough to think that millions of angry armed gun owners will sit idly by for draconian gun taxes, the listing of their guns on the NFA registry or the confiscation of guns and magazines?
Obama certainly thinks so or he wouldn't be making these asinine comments.
“I've been very clear that an assault-rifle ban, banning these high capacity clips, background checks, that there are a set of issues that I have historically supported and will continue to support,” the president said."
He has been careful to hide these feelings these last few years, but if you know his pas,t this is no surprise.
“I think there are a vast majority of responsible gun owners out there who recognize that we can't have a situation in which somebody with severe psychological problems is able to get the kind of high-capacity weapons that this individual in Newtown obtained and gun down our kids,” Obama said."
I think most gun owners are responsible gun owners yet I have actually had conversations with ignorant gun owners that claim to want a limit on "high" capacity magazines and those "military" style rifles. I am quick to point out that those rifles, in fact, operate no differently than those beloved Remington semi auto's of the deer woods for so many years. And the magazines they want to ban are, in fact, standard capacity for these firearms. And a magazine of 10 rounds capacity works no differently than one of thirty rounds capacity But, the responsible gun owners that I actually know have no intention of surrendering anything. They are buying like there is no tomorrow. Guns, magazines, ammunition. They are not doing this for the act of surrendering them for grocery cards, or for minuscule cash payments or even confiscation, they are doing this in preparation for war.
Most deer, elk, moose, bear and varmint hunters are pretty good shots. I'm talking from 50 to 1000 yards. And we outnumber those willing to take our freedoms, take our guns, take our lives by a huge ration. We could enact a guerrilla war that would take this illegitimate government down. No bureaucrat or their supporters that favors these proposed measures of taxing, confiscation and NFA listing would ever feel comfortable on their daily commute, their daily jog, their grocery run, their cook outs, their family reunions.
And you think this is over the latest school shooting? Or the accumulated effects of other mass shootings? According to a source inside DHS this has been in the plans for a while and they may engineer another event if this one fails to get the desires effect.
The governments goal for many years has been to strip us of our second amendment rights. And they dont' care how many they have to kill to arrange that. Don't believe me? Do search of the governments that have massacred million of their citizens to achieve their political goals. When a government has all the power there is no stopping them from doing what they want to keep the power. And that my friends is the object of gun control. To keep the government in power.

It's The Guns I Tell Ya
If you own guns you have the power to protect you and yours, If you are the State, if you have the guns, supposedly, you can protect the citizens. If you happen to be the Federal government, and you have ALL the guns, then you can protect the states or you can turn then inward and intimidate and rule your subjects. It's all about the guns. Not really, but it seems that way. There have been many inroads made into the concealed carry movement. Open carry is making the news now. Gun sales are booming, and shooting classes and schools are booked up. Look at these article from today. This was found in a quick search.

The Ass Hat Has Spoken
OK, the gloves have come off. Maobama has started the rhetoric that leads up to new firearms legislation.
"A lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not in the hands of criminals,” Mr. Obama said at the annual National Urban League convention in New Orleans. “They belong on the battlefield of war, not on the streets of our cities.”
Then he clarified his position with this gem.
"And he said the nation’s attention should not just be focused on mass shootings, such as the one on Friday in Aurora, Colo., but on the daily shooting deaths of youths from gun violence in major cities".
His supporters are pushing him to adhere to promises he made 4 years ago
"Progressives are pushing Mr. Obama, who campaigned four years ago on a platform of stricter gun control, to speak out on the subject and use the tragedy to impose stricter gun regulations"
And I guess he's never had to fill out a 4473 (amended) form. And regarding crazy people, unless they have been adjudicated as mentally deficient, we don't have a crystal ball to predict when and who is going to go off the farm so to speak.
"we should do everything possible to prevent criminals and fugitives from purchasing weapons, that we should check someone’s criminal record before they can [purchase a gun], that a mentally unbalanced individual should not be able to get his hands on a gun so easily."
So, with the impetus from this latest mass shooting, the lefts strident demands and the socialist bent of the Main Asshat I really look for more draconian laws to be shoved down the throats of law abiding gun owners. We see this kind of thing happen every time there is a shooting that captures the attention of the entire country. Politicians have no problem riding the blood soaked coattails of innocent victims to further their political ambitions.
And if you don't think the possible new laws will be draconian, take the thousands of gun laws we have now, add in the hundreds of gun owners and dealers that have been financially ruined and imprisoned by the BATFE. Then add the already strictly controlled items, machine guns, that ownership without paperwork and a stamp, will land your ass in prison. That all adds up to draconian. We have laws that require mufflers on cars and truck to protect the tranquility of life, but if we do the same thing to a gun i.e. put a muffler on it, we violate Federal law and some state laws too. If we dare make a shotgun or rifle more compact, if we trim 1/16th of an inch too much we can land in prison. If we dare to make a profit on a private gun sale the Feds can charge us with dealing firearms without a license. Hell, if we want to take in friends and families guns and restore the finish of the wood and metal they want us to have a freaking dealers license. Are you catching on here? The current plan is to regulate guns and their owners out of existence. And "they" want to know what we are upset about. It's our life, it's our passion, it's our right.

The stuff I like. Oh, yeah that's what I like
I made my 4 week report to the authorities(unemployment office) this morning. If you get up at a decent time you can beat all the slackers and be in and out lickety split. November 21 will be an anniversary for me. It will be officially 1 year of unemployment. What a sucky anniversary.

I spent the rest of the morning and into the afternoon getting the outside stuff done so let the cold blow and the snow fly. I put the grill away, picked up my "I'll put it away later" stuff, and stored away miscellaneous things in their proper places. Tomorrow I'll see about getting the Wheel Horse project undercover.
____________________________________
I have a wide array of interests and have had several hobbies until I had to trim the hobbies down to spare the budget. Here's some of my interests:
Guns
1911's
antique auto pistols (I've had my eye on some Savages lately)
side by side shotguns, old, new, plain or fancy I like 'em all
22 rifles (I have more than a few)
Motor Vehicles
El Camino's ( I'm on my 4th)
Corvettes ( I had a hard time choosing between a new Harley and a used "Vette)
Harley Davidson's (the Harley won the coin toss. Literally)
Any other motorcycle
old lawn tractors
big lifted 4 wheel drives (oh how I wish I had that '79 Bronco back)
Stuff
Knives of all sorts but especially auto's
flashlights, just ask my wife
blackjacks, if they have a provenance in law enforcement
old guns with a story
Activities
hunting ( for many years all my substantial vaca time was used for hunting)
fishing(one hobby that had to go)
motorcycling
driving way over the speed limit (ask me about the 100MPH summer)
watching women
reading (nearly anything)
carpentry
welding and fabrication
camping
ammo reloading
gun shows
Does any of this stuff interest any of you? Want me to write about any of it? Any way, a while back on Day One I told you who I am, now I told you what I like.
