Tea Party

We attended the Tea Party hosted at Kearney Missouri yesterday. The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps was on site and featured a couple of speakers. Other speakers included a civic leader in Kearney, a Representative from Congressman Sam Graves office, a fired up retired Marine, as well as citizens from every walk of life. When the featured speakers were done the organizer's let anyone that had something to say take the stage to make their point. One of the neatest things I saw was the number of young people there between the ages of 14 and 21. There were a couple of teenagers that really had their act together.

I did a quick count at one point and came up with 149 in attendance but the number fluctuated from a low of about 120 to a high of 180. That not to shabby considering the weather was like the government...oppressive. Mid to high 90's along with the same numbers in humidity. The crowd started out in the open area in front of the stage but quickly took possession of any shade that could be found. The overall consensus was...less government, less tax, less control. The central theme seemed to be a return to a Constitutional Republic. Do yourself a favor and try to attend a Tea Party when one comes to your area. Support our Constitution and your right to free speech. Here are a few pictures of the event.

One very pointed comment was made by a speaker. Congressman Graves could not make it to the event but sent a staffer who read a letter from Graves. As soon as the letter was read the staffer left, post haste. The comment the speaker made was... That's what's wrong with Government, they tell you what you want to hear then run away. The crowd wholeheartedly agreed with his comment. At least the staffer could have stayed for a half hour or so to hear some more of the speakers and take that info back to the Congressman.
